The Student Anti-Violence Education
program teaches children the skills they need to choose nonviolent
means of resolving conflicts and provides them with resources
to deal with the violence they encounter in their homes, neighborhoods
and schools. Since its inception in 1991, SAVE has reached over
20,000 students in Philadelphia area public and Catholic schools.
SAVE is a curriculum-based training program that
works with children in their school to provide experiential training
in handling disputes effectively while helping them to understand
the roots and effects of violence. Classroom sessions explore a
range of issues, including anger management, conflict resolution,
mediation, impulse control and consequences.
