Press Release
With surge in local violence, businesses and artists get involved

PHILADELPHIA, 11/16/06—With the 358 homicides this year to date, The Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia (AVP), a violence prevention and victim advocacy organization, welcomed the timely compassion of two unexpected supporters-- an advertising agency and a folk artist.

HypnoDesign of Moorestown, NJ recently donated their creative expertise to develop a new logo, tagline and the agency's first comprehensive brochure as part of an annual project called CreateAthon. CRW Graphics of Pennsauken completed the effort by donating their printing services to the project.

"The Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia is doing tremendously important work and they have grown over the past 25 years into several sub-organizations to meet the needs of Philadelphians. Our work for AVP will help unite them as a whole, and provide a consistent identity across all their programs, so they can continue their mission to end violence in Philadelphia. It's amazing what they face, and we wanted to help provide them with better tools to continue their good work, and gain more ground against violence. The new logo combines the peace symbol with the Philly skyline, and reflects the hopeful nature of AVP. We need AVP now more than ever." said Richard Cardona, Creative Director of Hypno Design.

Another, unrelated, philanthropic initiative was organized by St. Luke's United Church of Christ. Boston-based folk artist Charlene DiCalogero performed at the church's Concert for a Cause, where proceeds generated from the event went to AVP. "The generosity of the people of St. Luke's and the performing artists is heart-warming. We share a concern for the people impacted by violence throughout Philadelphia and I am thankful they included us to be part of their Concert for a Cause series," stated Julie Rausch, Executive Director of The Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia.

The Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia (AVP) is a non-profit, charitable organization that works to break the cycle of violence by providing intervention, prevention and support services. For more information on please visit www.avpphila.org.
